The NASA Human Space Mission

The Space Agency has already started accepting applications as a part of the NASA Human Space Mission and the position is open till September 10th, 2020. The position is open for all US Citizens. To be eligible to apply, the candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from any accredited institutions in any of the following fields: Engineering, Physical Science, Biological Science, Computer Science, or Mathematics. Once the applicants are selected, the candidates will undergo extensive training on flight control and spacecraft systems. They will also receive training in operational leadership and risk management.

Responsibilities of NASA Flight Directors

NASA flight directors will be responsible for leading the next generation of human spaceflight missions to the International Space Station (ISS). The selected NASA flight directors for Space Mission will also be expected to guide its upcoming teams of American astronauts. Astronauts would be launched into space using American rockets, from local soil to the international orbiting laboratory. Another important job roles of NASA flight directors will involve ensuring that the astronauts are safe. They will need to lead researchers, engineers, flight controllers, and a number of support personnel – an interdisciplinary team that will be responsible for making real-time decisions. The applicants will also be responsible to make critical judgements to ensure the future Space Mission is a huge success.

NASA will also take in consideration the past experience of the applicants along with their ability in time-critical decision making in “high-stress, high-risk environments”. The selected directors will also be responsible for managing the crew, vehicle, timely launch and ground resources to ensure that not only the NASA astronauts safe in space  but also that the vehicle is also protected and safe.
