This gets made with the use of AI. The same surged in popularity with the introduction of the text-to-image systems such as Midjourney and Dall-E.

While the technology is popular, it doesn’t come without controversy. Japan has taken up to this trend big time. University of Tokyo’s professor Fujio Toriumi revealed that 40% of all hashtagged AI-based images found on Twitter from June originated from Japan. He added, “Japan has a culture of sharing manga on Twitter… The novelty of using AI to generate similar pictures is “both a threat and a surprise to that established audience, but many are embracing it out of curiosity.”
