Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, Akash Ambani, had said that the company plans to roll out its 5G services in line with India’s ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. He further stressed that Jio is looking at launching affordable 5G services and also 5G-enabled services for Jio’s customers. He believes that this will help in accelerating the digital revolution in India. Segments such as education, healthcare, manufacturing, agriculture or e-governance will see immense development, with 5G at play. Jio is a leader in the spectrum for 5G auction, and this also includes the pricey 700 MHz band too.

A 5G Vision for A New India

The goals at Jio are well in line with our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s vision for Aatmanirbhar Bharat this year. The celebrations this year are all about commemorating the culture, history and achievements of India and Indians. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav official kicked off from March 12 2021. Jio issued a statement saying,  “Jio is fully ready for 5G rollout in the shortest period of time because of its nationwide fibre presence, all-IP network with no legacy infrastructure, indigenous 5G stack and strong global partnerships across the technology ecosystem.”

How 5G Will Change the Face Of Digital India?

As per Jio, the 5G services will aid the generation in driving the growth on digital solutions as well as fostering the AI-driven leap it might take for becoming an economy of $5 trillion value. 4G from Jio already showed immense growth in terms of impact, scale and speed. Jio is resolute about leading further with 5G. As per a report from Nomura, the 700 MHz band might potentially give Jio further edge when it comes to network quality even indoors. This will naturally enhance the concerns investors have on future outgo on spectrum for Bharti. Jio might be able to offer far more significant differentiation when it comes to network quality in 5G on 700 band”. It is noteworthy that even a slight hike in tariff will be enough to cover 5G spectrum-related bills of telecom operators. In a slew of telecom reforms that the government launched in  September last year, there would be zero spectrum related usage charges for all future auctions. Similar relief measures had also been announced in a bid to relieve the industry of distress. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Indian Telecom Minister further stated that if the 5G services still remain costly, then, BSNL, which is state-owned will rapidly roll out 5G. Vaishnaw further announced that 5G spectrum allocation is being fast-tracked, and the process might conclude around August 10. In a recent investor summit he stated, “We expect that the rollout will happen starting in October, and within a year or so, we should have a good rollout of 5G in the country.” Summing Up With Jio being committed to roll out the 5G services fastest, you can rest assured that you will soon get hands on the same. Jio has a massive network of fibre, pan-India and Jio operates with an exclusive IP network instead of legacy infrastructure. This is a huge advantage over seasoned players such as Vodafone Idea and Airtel who have loads of  legacy subscribers.
