Why will WhatsApp stop working on some smartphones?

The news that WhatsApp will stop working for few of the smartphone users is not going to impact Indian users for now. The list of smartphones that won’t support WhatsApp in 2022 is only targeted for Brazil as of now. There are more than 100 million WhatsApp users in Brazil. Whereas there are around 480 million WhatsApp users in India. So, Indian users need not to worry about the news.
What should be done to keep using WhatsApp on smartphones?
