The new Instagram Lite will enable users in low connectivity regions to utilize most of the features of Instagram. The lean version is designed to help keep more users connected and enjoy the digital world without demanding too much space. As compared to the original Instagram app, which requires 30 MB space, the Instagram Lite version requires just 2MB and can run even on slower 2G networks, allowing users in parts of Asia, Africa, India, and Latin America with outdated Internet infrastructure to access the service. Instagram Lite is for Everyone

The Instagram Lite app, developed by Facebook’s team in Tel Aviv in a collaboration with a New York-based team including Instagram engineering, product, design, and research. TzachHadar, Director of Product Management at Facebook Tel Aviv, in an interview said, “Our teams build these lightweight versions of our apps for people with low connectivity or limited data plans because our basic premise is to leave no one behind. He further added, “We wanted the Instagram experience to remain fast, high-quality, and reliable, irrespective of the device, platform, and network people are on.” Instagram Lite update is currently available for Android users only.
