Bionic chips on Apple phones explained

It is a process developed by Apple. It has 4.3 billion transistors along with six cores. The chip has two high-performance cores and four efficiency cores. During the times when heavy tasks are to be performed, the processor runs all the cores simultaneously. This saves battery life during the times when average performance tasks are performed. The shuffling of the processor from efficiency to high-performance cores by itself makes it a smart processor. Apple chose to call it A11 Bionic. It was first used in iPhone 8, iPhone 8 plus, and iPhone X. It was a significant enhancement over the previously used A10 on earlier iPhone models. However, the functionality of the Bionic chip remains identical to that of a processor because it is just the same processor with a new name. In other words, it is a marketing gimmick by Apple as the names of the chips A8 and A9 introduced before was deemed boring. Nonetheless, the A11 Bionic chip was the fastest and the most powerful processor available to any smartphone at that time. About the Apple A16 Bionic chip

Designed by Apple and manufactured by TSMC the Apple A16 Bionic is a 64-bit ARM-based SoC. It is meant for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max announced on 7th September 2022. The A16’s CPU is 40% faster than its closest competition. The 16-core Neural Engine of the A16 can handle 17 trillion operations per second. The Neural Engine handles tasks like image and video processing. The A16 uses a five-core GPU which in combination with 50% more memory bandwidth would make the device greatly suitable for graphic-intensive gaming. The A16 is the first of its kind to use a 4-nanometer process (N4). The A16 chip enables 4 trillion operations per photo which is no mean feat. It has a 6-core CPU which contains 4 high-performance cores. They are faster than the ones in A15 and consume 20% less power.
