Several ministers of the Indian governments have raised concerns regarding data security and have written to the PM demanding a ban on the PUBG Mobile alternative. Adding to the drama is Prime Minister Modi’s comment at the Toycathon 2021 that might lead to BGMI ban in India even before the official launch. He said that most online games lack Indian values or concepts. These digital games are often seen promoting violence and add to mental stress. Adding fuel to the fire is the leaked report which claims that the developer of BGMI, Krafton is sending data to servers placed in China. Krafton did not shy away from accepting this flaw, but also clarified that the company has rolled out a new update to stop any sort of data sharing with any Chinese server. It’s not the first time
BGMI ban in India is not for the first time. Battlegrounds Mobile India was banned in its previous PUBG Mobile form after the govt. decided to ban over 250 Chinese apps stating national interest as the reason for the same. It had then said that these apps had severs set in China, which could have a negative impact on the overall safety and national interest of the country. We are still not sure about the BGMI ban in India. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and MEITY have the power to ban a game or app if it does not conform to the rules and regulations set by the government.
