Users can upload their stories on BeReal as they do on Instagram, but BeReal has got an authentic way to share with the world.

BeReal is somewhat different yet somewhat the same as other social media nowadays. Like other social media, users can upload stories related to what they are up to. Be it going on a date, enjoying a party, or traveling to a new place. But the difference is you do not choose the timing to upload on BeReal. The application will send a notification, and the user will have 2 minutes to click a picture at that moment and upload it on BeReal. Sounds crazy, right? If the user fails to upload within two minutes, they can still post the story, but it will be marked ‘posted late.’ Another addition to the app is that users cannot add filters or texts before publishing the story. In simple words, the app is forcing the generation to ‘be real’ as its name. The app description says: “BeReal is the first uncontrollable social media to share an authentic moment in Photo. Every day at a random time, everyone has to capture a photo in two minutes. Capture and post in time to discover what your friends are up to.” That’s why every inch of the app sounds authentic. Where people can see into each other’s life without filters, this new perspective is gaining popularity in recent times. Also, it has brought some funny as well as tasteless results.

Like other social media platforms, friends can react and comment on the post uploaded on the app. There is a discover section. Also, users can see posts from around the globe. But in addition, people can see and find you on maps from where you clicked the Photo. BeReal says: “It’s life, Real life, and this life is without filters. #nofilter #beauthentic. Is BeReal a new application? What is the cost?
BeReal is not the latest application; it has been in existence since 2019; however, it has recently gained enough popularity in the latest months. That too, when it came to a trending topic on Twitter. Alexis Barreyat, a French entrepreneur and former GoPro employee, is the founder as well as creator of the application. And Kévin Perreau is the co-founder of the application. Both aspire to bring a new social media world where users can live and appreciate authenticity.

Data suggests that BeReal has more than 1 million views on Google Play Store. In April 2022, BeReal announced they had reached 3 million active users daily. It is a free application, available on Apple Store and Google Play Store.
